More From the Pool

I made a second image. This time looking up through the water.

Read on for alternative nude version. Also made a nude version of the first one:

  1. Ezekiel

I really like that underwater naked version. I can almost reach up and grab Daniel’s pecker. That would sure freak him out. 🙂 🙂 🙂

And then he’d kick you in the face and you’d drown. :p

  2. Themoment

How easy/hard is it to add distortion to look more like it’s through water? What do you use, anyway?

I use daz studio with the iray renderer.
Adding the water effect is rather easy, actually. Iray simulates caustics, I just had to add a big cube set to the default water shader. (I.e. mostly transparent, and refraction and reflectivity set to appropriate values to simulate water). Make the surface a bit uneven to simulate waves.
Now, the difficult part is that I don’t get to see those effects in the live preview. I get what things look like without refraction and no reflections. So I have to guess and make a lot of test images while setting up the actors and props in the scene. That slows things down a little (or a lot with more complex scenes). And, of cause, the more realistic the effects are, the more complex they are to calculate and the longer the final image takes to finish.
